Swim
I first discovered open water swimming while competing in triathlons. I competed in my first race, the Madison Mile in 2005. At that race, I met Dave Parcells who told me about his experience swimming the English Channel. In August 2008, I swam the English Channel from Dover, England to Cap Gris Nez, France in 10 hours and 17 minutes, earning me the Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation's Eurotunnel Award for the fastest time of 2008.
I started swimming competively when I was eleven. I swam for the University of Maryland where I was an ACC Championships finalist and NCAA qualifier in the 200 yard breaststroke.
Since moving to Sydney, Australia in 2009, I have enjoyed training at Bondi Beach and competing in local ocean water races.

Double English Channel crossing attempt, August 2010
In August I will be returning to Dover to attempt a 2-way crossing of the English Channel. The shortest distance is 19 nautical miles (22 miles) from England to France. Due to currents, the distance swum is usually further. The approximate water temperature is between 59°F and 64.5°F (15°C to 18°C). More about the Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation »
